Humanitarian Economic Assistance Fund
Brief Description:
As the costs of fighting childhood cancer can far exceed a family’s income, we aim to help a family stay afloat as they fight for their child’s life.
The Need:
Over 700 children with cancer go through active chemotherapy treatment annually. The diagnosis period and the hospital treatments can last between one and two years.
Every year, families of hundreds of children are forced to risk their economic future and the entirety of their assets to raise the funds necessary to save their child’s life. Larger Than Life is approached every week with requests to cover the costs of innovative treatments, medical equipment, procedures, travel, and more. As some families need to travel outside of Israel to receive a special form of treatment for their child, and some innovative treatments and life-extending drugs are not covered by Israeli health care, the costs associated with treatment are astronomical.
Unfortunately, these costs can threaten the family’s ability to stay afloat, and even to put food on the table.
The Program:
The challenges of fighting cancer come from every angle — daily trips to the hospital for treatments and procedures, providing enough attention to their other children, and, most importantly, finding a balance between work and their family difficulties, so they could continue to pay their mortgage and feed their children.
As families come to us in need of economic assistance, we do all we can to help them. Each case is assessed individually, and we pool our resources to support these families in any way we can.
This health care fund has helped many families stay afloat in their fight against childhood cancer. Our ability to provide this aid is made possible through the generosity of people like you.
We hope that you’ll join our community and help support Israeli families who are fighting for their child’s life.
